Online Maths Tuition

THE BACKGROUND

A few months ago, a young student came into our tuition service telling us how she hated maths. It made her feel sad because she ‘just didn’t understand.’ This was affecting her engagement and confidence in school – she wasn’t getting the most out of her learning. During the last term of online learning the school tracked her progress based on study skills: engagement in learning and completion and standard of work. School then awards them a number 1-4. 1 being exemplary, 2 good, 3 requires improvement and 4 being unsatisfactory. So we needed to boost confidence and engagement during online learning to meet the criteria and find fun in learning.

THE SOLUTION

After an in depth session analysing the personal needs of the student our expert tutor was able to creative a bespoke learning program to overcome some of the challenges that the pupil was tackling in school. Our experienced tutor was able to respond to the immediate learning needs of the pupil. The tuition was tailored to what was happening in the school environment, preparing for lessons in school. Our tutor was also able to support the pupil through online learning. This new world of education can be daunting but our expert tutors have been able to provide learning and connection.
Key Factors
  • Maths understanding
  • Engagement in lessons
  • Increasing the standard of work
  • Confidence in work

THE RESULTS

What a distance we have come from that first meeting. From maths, this pupil has achieved the highest standard in engagement and a strong 2 in the completion of work. The progress during online learning has accelerated and she is fully engaged during lessons, contributing and offering solutions to problems. More than anything her confidence has sky rocketed.

Progressing in education without one to one tuition can be tough. Having someone to work through the bits that you struggle with can make all the difference to your results. We undertake a detailed skills assessment to work out where the gaps are and where to focus the tuition sessions.
