THE BACKGROUND

When knowledge gaps hinder your career or life in anyway, you know you need to do something. It's not always easy to find the help you need once you are out of the education system. Our client (Mrs S) was having difficulty passing her numeracy exam to allow her to progress from a teaching assistant to a teacher. THE SOLUTION

Working on a one to one level with one of our numeracy tutors, we undertook a bespoke skills assessment to be able to identify the gaps in her knowledge. This enabled us to concentrate only those critical elements and for her to be able to apply those underpinning skills to any level of numeracy. It allowed her to see the big picture in maths and how one thing could be applied to another.

THE RESULTS

Within two months of starting the numeracy tuition for adults, Mrs S had passed her numeracy exam and was able to progress to become a teacher. She had always been a little embarrassed by her struggles with numeracy but our sessions together identified just a few missing concepts that made it all click. We spent time building confidence by covering exam techniques too. "Numeracy and maths are no longer something to dread or shy away from. I have the skills to problem solve any question and more importantly, to help others that have the same mental block as I did!"
