Each year we are asked how we prepare our pupils for the National Tests. If you read the National Test booklets, they specify that they are diagnostic tests and no pratice or revision is needed. However, we all want our children to do the best they possibly can do, so what does Creative in Learning do to help?
The reading test is based on comprehension only. In Creativein Learning, we use the Bugs reading scheme. This is a comprehension scheme rather than a reading scheme as it has online comprehensions built in to it. We also use paper tests that are based on the format of the National Test papers.
This year, this test can be administered as an online test. Your child’s school should inform you if it is going to be paper based on online based test.
Procedural test papers are based on answering general maths papers.

To develop these skills, we use our mental maths books, sumdog and IXL.
The Reasoning test paper is based on children being able to answer maths problems. In this paper, children are given the numbers to work with, but they are not told what to do with them.
To develop these skills, we use Problem Solving books, IXL and online problem solving programmes.
We use all the above on a regular basis throughout the year, so we are developing children’s confidence in being able to answer questions in the same format week by week.
